Starting the year with a bang

It’s a really busy time for the agency in January, talking to village hall touring schemes for the coming year and a half, finalising gigs for the autumn and starting to book gigs in 2013 for artists like Vin Garbutt at the same time as doing the routing for Blast From The Past’s Victorian and Medieval Christmas Shows and the tour for Ira Bernsteain and Riley Baugus’ Appalachian Roots show in November.

There’s no way I can take on any new acts right now, but thanks for your interest if you’re on of the artists who have approached me recently. I do still have some flexibility for doing UK Certificates of Sponsorship (work permits) for acts from outside the EU.

Congratulations to James Keelaghan on being appointed as the artistic director of Summerfolk Festival in Owen Sound, Ontario. It’s one of my favourite Canadian festivals and I’m sure James will make a huge success of it. Unfortunately it does mean that he won’t be touring the UK for st least the next couple of years, so with regret he’s departuing from the agency roster. Good luck, James.

    Hello Folkagent,
Interesting Post, and then you got to the big bang which some call the beginning of time, and then you tried to travel beyond, what would happen where would you go?
Similarly if you stepped out of time and went forward and the big crunch happened where would you go?
    Hypothetically speaking of course.
I’ll be back to read more next time

I don’t usually respond in verse (notice I don’t call it poetry!), but:

The word for today is, “Nothing”
      It’s a word that I can’t comprehend
I can’t get my head around Nothing
What is it and when will it end?

Before I was Me I was Nothing
Though history says lots went before
And after I’m gone I’ll be Nothing
      I don’t think I’ll care anymore.

The absence of something’s a Nothing
A thing that isn’t is Not
The abstract idea of a Nothing
Confuses my brain quite a lot.

Before the Big Bang there was nothing
      But I don’t know how. I can’t see
That something as small as a Nothing
Can burst into Something and Be!
